Two Sides of the Same Story

Two Sides of the Same Story is a unique cartoon book, highlighting and challenging some of the negative attitudes that can prevent Gypsy/Travellers from accessing support services.

The book was borne from MECOPP's recent research exploring the take-up of Self-Directed Support (SDS) among the Gypsy/Traveller community. The research uncovered a number of barriers preventing Gypsy/Travellers from accessing information, and taking-up SDS, not least of which are unhelpful assumptions and a real lack of understanding of Gypsy/Traveller culture among service providers.

Using humorous cartoons, Two Sides of the Same Story highlights some of the attitudes that exist among service providers and contrasts these with the perspectives of Gypsy/Travellers in need of support.
