Training & Capacity Building

We offer a range of training and capacity building activities to support voluntary and statutory organisations respond more effectively to the needs of carers and supported people with one or more protected characteristics. We work with staff teams, Board members and volunteers to ensure that carers are supported by sustainable and well-equipped local services which are able to respond confidently, respectfully and appropriately to carers with one or more protected characteristics.

Our training is designed to build the overall ‘cultural competency’ of an organisation to work more effectively with a diverse population of carers and cared for people. Our core training on ‘working towards Cultural Competency in carer support services’ and ‘Understanding & implementing Self-Directed Support in a cultural context’ can be supplemented by a range of practical workshops and awareness-raising sessions.

Opportunities for more regular support and professional development can be provided through the BME Carer Worker’s Network.

Our training programme for 2023/2024 is currently in development and will be available shortly. If you are interested in discussing your training needs, joining the Network or have  other capacity building requirements which you would like to discuss with us, please get in touch.
