MECOPP Services Supporting Carers in Edinburgh and Lothians


One of MECOPP’s key roles is to act on behalf of its service users in securing access to a variety of supports and services to undertake or sustain a caring role.

Who We Help

This service is available to Black and Minority Ethnic carers:

  • Who reside within Edinburgh and the Lothians.

  • Who provide care for an adult or adults aged 16+ (there is no upper age limit).

  • Who are of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, (Hong Kong and mainland China), Nepalese,  African, African-Caribbean or Arabic ethnic origin. We also support Gypsy/Travellers in Lothians and further afield. 

How We Help

We provide the following services from our Carers Centre in Edinburgh

  • Multilingual advice and information ( English, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Nepali, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian).

  • Advocacy and casework support.

  • Education and training opportunities.

  • Recreational, social and therapeutic activities.

  • Healthy Living programmes.

We can support carers to access health and social work services, housing and accommodation and welfare benefits.
