MICHELLE COUP (CURRENTLY ON MATERNITY LEAVE)
Is the SDS Development Officer for the South Asian Community
I started working at MECOPP in the role of SDS Development Officer for the South Asian Community in October 2015, having just returned to my homeland after living and working in NZ for 7 years.
I have worked in the area of social care for a lot of years and I’m very passionate about people having the same rights, opportunities and experiences as everyone else in society. This passion has seen me challenge many people, including a Premier League football club! My time in this sector has seen me work in many different areas of social care including, community, residential and rehabilitation services; Assessment and Service Coordination for over 65’s and for people with disabilities; writing processes and implementing policies for disability services; dealing with complaints about health and disability services – working alongside the Commission; and providing training and education sessions for health and social care workers. I have just completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Care provision.
During my time in NZ I developed liking for rugby, drinking wine and participating in cooking competitions with friends. I also enjoy travelling, going to exhibitions, concerts and other events and spending time with my family (particularly my two gorgeous nieces) and friend, and watching my local team St Johnstone.
