Casework and Representation

One of MECOPP’s key roles is to act on behalf of its clients in securing access to a variety of services and to information on many topics.

How We Help

The areas we can help in include, but are by no means limited to:

welfare benefits
social work
housing
immigration
health

In this capacity we offer multilingual language support, mediating between our clients and third parties. We can also help clients in personal development by supporting them in education and employment opportunities. And throughout this process we do not neglect the need to provide emotional support too.

Who We Help

This service is available to Black and Minority Ethnic carers:

Who reside within Edinburgh and the Lothians
Who provide care for an adult or adults aged 25+ (there is no upper age limit)
Who are of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese, African, Afro-Caribbean, or Arabic ethnic origin

We also have a male Support and Development Officer who can provide gender-specific support to South Asian clients.
